Downtown Austin Elopement
Joy and James’ downtown Austin courthouse wedding was an intimate and dreamy affair.
They chose the perfect date, 2/2/2022, for their downtown Austin Courthouse wedding. The courthouse was quiet when we arrived mid-afternoon, it was just the two of them and the two of us.
The officiant had called in sick and his replacement, a judge who usually serves on criminal cases, was anything but traditional. He was chocked full of jokes, took selfies with Joy and James after the ceremony, and made sure the whole affair was lively and upbeat.
After the intimate ceremony, we went outside and took the sweetest photos on the steps, which we thankfully had all to ourselves and were able to take as many pictures as we wanted without feeling rushed. Then, we headed to the Long Center to take some pictures in front of the infamous downtown Austin skyline.
We were worried about the weather, it was supposed to rain the entire day, and to start snowing that afternoon! But, to our surprise, the weather actually turned out in our favor and was a beautiful overcast sky instead of a downpour.
We ended the day back at their apartment to get some pictures with their precious dog Molly, who was timid at first but quickly warmed up in front of the camera after being bribed with a few treats. We topped off the shoot with some champagne and got home right before snow started to fall.
Congratulations to Joy and James, we wish you a lifetime of happiness!
